Frequently Asked Questions about VHP Ultra High Performance In-Office Whitener.

What is the H2O2 concentration of GentleWhite VHP?

VHP is 38% H2O2, however, its unique micro encapsulation slows the neutralization of the peroxide, so that it remains at this high concentration for a much longer period of time that dual-barrel syringe based bleaches, resulting in a very high degree of bleaching effectiveness.

Does GentleWhite VHP require the use of a bleaching light?

Virtually all peroxide-based bleaches will have a noticeable degree of effectiveness whether a light is used or not.  Our anecdotal evidence is that bleaching relapse is significantly delayed when a blue-spectrum (400-490nm) light source is used. While any blue spectrum light is acceptable, the IMDS Cure & Whiten 100 is fully automated for optimum exposure with VHP, and offers 3 second curing of virtually any composite filling material.

What kind of gingival barrier is needed with VHP?

Under most circumstances, no gingival barrier is needed, as VHP employs EAB (Extracted Aqueous Barrier) technology, GentleWhite’s unique process that draws moisture from oral tissues to create a barrier across which H2O2 cannot pass. Each patient is unique, however, and conservative practice dictates that a test on a small area of gingiva should conducted to monitor tolerance prior to full application.

How is VHP applied?

VHP is supplied in two containers: One holds the micro-encapsulated H2O2 powder, the other the activator in gel form. The two containers are mixed together and placed into the supplied syringe. The gel is then applied to the teeth as with any syringe-based bleach.

What is the shelf life of VHP?

VHP in supplied form has a shelf life of 15 months.  Once mixed, the gel should be used within four hours.

Does VHP require refrigeration?

No. VHP is stable at room temperature.  Care should be taken not to expose VHP to extremes of heat and cold.

Superior bleaching results, no sensitivity, no gingival burning, no paint-on barrier, less chair time.  Why would you use any other bleaching system?
